WORKING TOGETHER TO BUILD A WORLD OF HEALTHY PEOPLE
How many journeys have we taken toward health in our life? Will this be the final journey? Will it be a long one? I don't know that answer for myself so I certainly can't answer for you. I can tell you I hope it is, but I have no doubt in my mind that there will be mountains I have to climb and cliffs I will inevitably fall off. My only hope is that I pick myself back up and keep coming back with more confidence and experience then ever before. I have lost 50 pounds and gained it back a few times. I have exercised and then stopped more times then I can remember. Each time though, I learn a little bit more. I think that may be the case for many of us so I created this site as a central place for us to discuss our successes and failures. A place to communicate what works and what doesn't and confess our slip-ups while having fun along the way.
That is certainly what I intend to do! Will you join me?
In mid-April, 2010 I started a blog in the hope that it will help me return to my goal weight. I connected it to my Facebook account and the next thing I knew I was getting messages and emails from friends telling me it inspired them. At the time of this most recent update, July 25th, 2010, I am almost back to goal. Does the journey end there? Are you kidding? It has barely started. Once I reach my goal weight the REAL focus on health begins.
As time goes by this site will hopefully grow but since this is a brand new site with virtually no planning ahead of time, I will, for now, simply provide a link to my blog where I talk about my daily challenges. If you join as a "follower" or simply post comments on my blog letting me know how you are doing we can start some communication happening and figure out how to make it work for one and all! Right now most people appear to be from Weight Watchers, which is my program of choice, but as time goes by I hope I hear not only from people losing weight via other programs, but also from people who are not trying to lose weight but simply trying to be healthy.
I do know that I DO NOT want this site to be one where we judge each other and the weight-loss/health choices we make. Everyone is different. Some may excel at Jenny-Craig, others at Weight-Watchers, others through Atkins or The South Beach Diet, or perhaps through the guidance of a Nutritonist or you may be doing it completely on your own. We are never going to agree on what is the right thing to do from a health perspective, so let's not judge each other. I guess i should also say, to protect myself legally, that I am not proposing, recommending or condemning ANY approach to health so no law-suits please! I may state my opinions from time to time (as I hope you do) but you make your own decisions on what you do and what you eat for your health. Lets just chat and strive to be healthier than yesterday.

I don't know exactly how this site will work and will have to figure it out along the way but what I do hope is that I can create a forum to have fun, live, learn, share and most of all...be healthy!

The "Before" Picture
This was me in June, 2004. I am never going back! The main picture on this page was me when I reached goal about three years ago.
I lost 50 pounds but eventually gained 30 back. At least 10 of that 30 pounds is muscle, however, because I weight lift several times a week. Unfortunatley working out also made me feel like I had permission to eat and conseqeuantly I got some of the stomach back too :-(
The picture below was taken on July 16, 2010. I am almost back to goal!
The point for now is that I do struggle...just like you....and we can succeed together!
I will weigh myself at Weight Watchers every Wednesday night and post my weight on my blog Thursday mornings. I am going back to being healthy! Will you join me?
